- This spring and summer we're adding splashes (not gallons) of color. The PANTONE Color Trend spring/summer colors are truly tantalizing. Try coral, lipstick red, navy blue, sage green, and nude. Citrus colors are the go-to shades this season. Tangerine, lime, and lemon yellow are especially great when paired with gray or other neutrals.
- For an easy color splash, loop an ooo-la-la scarf around your neck to punch up a neutral outfit. But watch it...when you're adding a new color to your personal palette, be sure it's right for your skin tone if you plan to wear it next to your face. If the color that suits your mood doesn't suit your skin tone, simply use it as a fun accent away from your face on a pair of eye-catching shoes, a belt, bangle, or purse.
- Summer 2012 looks like an "on" year for polka dots, patterns, and stripes. Choose your dots wisely: large polka dots can be juvenile but smaller or abstract ones are timeless and versatile. Be sure the stripes you choose are flattering to your figure (diagonal stripes are the most flattering). You can harness the power of the stripe by using the horizontal variety to enhance a small bust line. Fuse fresh flower patterns or picnic plaids with solid and sophisticated shoes and a solid handbag for a polished, current look.
- Traditional denim giving you the blues? Pop into a pair of pastel jeans in teal, orange, fuchsia, or lavender this spring. If colorful denim feels a bit wild and crazy to you, pair it with a neutral top in black, nude, or gray to tone things down.

More top tips for transitioning into the warmer season:
- Wear your favorite minidress over skinny jeans or textured tights with tall boots or flats.
- Use a bold graphic necklace to refresh your usual looks.
- Tend to gravitate toward safe solids? Play with prints on your handbags. Adding a playful bag to your wardrobe is one of the easiest ways to skip into spring. And don't feel like you're locked into using one bag per season. Switching bags in and out to suit your outfits and moods is a great way to preserve their life and spice up your look.
